Surgical Programs- Upper GI/Pancreas


The Division of Surgical Oncology has faculty surgeons (Drs. David Bartlett, Steven Hughes, Kenneth Lee, James Moser, and Herbert Zeh) who have dedicated their careers to the treatment patients with upper gastrointestinal and pancreatic cancers. The goal of the Upper GI/Pancreas Cancer program is to provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art care for patients with cancers of the distal esophagus, stomach, pancreas, bile ducts, as well as the duodenum and small intestine. This includes complex surgical procedures such as esophagogastrectomy, total gastrectomy, radical pancreatoduodenectomy, distal pancreatectomy, and small bowel resection. All cancer patients are evaluated for the newest treatment options available through the UPittsburgh Cancer Institute, including cancer vaccine trials, radiation therapy, chemotherapy to insure the highest rate of success.
